Always at the forefront of cultural trends, Vivienne Westwood is one of the most original and influential designers of our time.
Gentle parody of Establishment, a playful mix of British fabrics and sheer eccentricity is where Westwood delights and excels, so Anglophiles went weak at the knees when Westwood and The Rug Company joined forces in 2005.
Vivienne certainly didn’t disappoint, with iconic rugs and cushions featuring some of her most-loved prints, including the Union Flag and signature orb.
"“Quality rather than quantity is my philosophy and lifestyle, so my collection with The Rug Company reflects this perfectly.” Vivienne Westwood
The Magnolia motif first appeared in Westwood's Autumn/Winter 2000/01 collection, the first in the long-running 'Exploration' theme. Hand knotted Magnolia Ice has a Tibetan wool background decorated with three plump silk flowers.
The Thistle Gold rug is a gesture to Vivienne's affinity with Scotland, an abstract graphic of the regal milk thistle. The beautiful design is hand knotted with fine silk yarns on a Tibetan wool background, pairing pale rose and golden tones.
