Meet Our Founders
Christopher and Suzanne Sharp endeavoured to create the world’s most desirable rugs through traditional rug artisanship and considered, innovative design.
“From the beginning, our focus was about innovation grounded in artisanal craft. Handweaving is a timeless tradition that produces the most exceptional rugs and is something many people underestimate.”

Pioneers of The Rug Company
A veritable font of rug-based knowledge, Sam Turner has been a key member of The Rug Company team for almost as long as its founders since 1998. His mother is a renowned conservator, and Sam’s childhood was spent surrounded by rare textiles.
Sam’s own designs have been part of the ever-changing collections, and is an expert in the production of entirely bespoke rugs.

“Occasionally someone will say – just design me something. When the rug is made and it’s a huge triumph, I still get a kick out of that. The fact that the customer is genuinely happy – that feeling is just brilliant.”
Sam Turner, Head of Sales
