At Home With: Rita Konig

The celebrated interior designer opens the doors to her Notting Hill home

London-based interior designer and House & Garden columnist, Rita Konig has been designing houses in the UK and US for the past 17 years. Recent projects include private homes in New York and London, as well as the 850 Hotel in West Hollywood. She’s known for her comfortable yet sleek style, and believes the best kind of rooms are those that make you want to come in, sit down and stay a while…We stopped by her London home to talk to find out more about her interiors inspiration and her favourite rugs.

The Tastemaker’s Edit
Thistle Gold by Vivienne Westwood

“Rugs are great unifiers in rooms. They corral furniture and bring the room together in a very warm way. We recently used this lovely Vivienne Westwood rug in a girl’s bedroom for a New York project.”

“I love putting a runner on a staircase, it brings life to what can be quite a boring space”

Witton Bright by Jonathan Saunders

“Pattern on the floor really enlivens a space, and I find it especially useful in a room where the rest of the design is very calm.”

Form 2 by Tom Dixon

“The first thing that drew me to this [Tom Dixon] rug is the palette. I find all of these colours go with almost anything!”
