Suzanne Sharp’s festive tips

Christmas at our co-founder Suzanne Sharp’s house is always a frivolous affair, with home decoration being of the utmost importance. Creating a celebratory atmosphere comes naturally to Suzanne and the dining room, with its pastel green walls, is an idyllic space in which to entertain.

“I like to turn my dining room in west London into an overgrown garden. The easiest way to do this is to load the mantelpiece with lots of big pieces of greenery; it’s a large room with a lofty ceiling, so scale and height are important. I weave in baubles and battery powered fairy lights for a bit of sparkle.”

“The table is scattered with greenery and usually stems of cosmos but you should never have too many dense or tall arrangements of flowers on the table, as your guests need to be able to look through them. The cosmos are particularly good because they are in tiny, fine glass bottles that are easy to shift out of the way when you pile heaps of food on the table.”

“The sheepskins on the chairs instantly make the room look cosy, while the green and white scheme keeps things fresh. The final flourish is lighting Diptyque's woody "Feu de Bois" candle.” Suzanne Sharp
