The Kips Bay Showhouse New York opened its doors on May 2nd for its 47th
annual fundraiser. Transforming the historic Georgian mansion, 22 designers
tackled 23 rooms with varying inspiration. Jeff Lincoln, Brian Gluckstein, Jim
Dove, Jennifer Cohler Mason, and Richard Rabel worked with TRC LAB to create
bespoke handtufted rugs to make their visions come to life.

“When I got this space,
I zeroed in on the
of the late 19th century.”
Working side-by-side with Richard Rabel, our studio customised Adam Hunter’s new
handtufted Galaxy design in dark and moody tones to create the perfect grand
entrance which carefully puddles at the bottom of the stairs as you walk through
the front door.

Jim Dove’s tiny but mighty space packs a punch with the transformation of the
smallest room in the house. Complete with a custom handtufted rug, Dove’s
champagne bar is just off of the main foyer.
Marrying contemporary and collectable interiors, Jeff Lincoln’s extensive living room
called on our new handtufted Paul Robinson design, Lagoon, to cover the vast
620 square feet of space. Created in a short timeframe, the custom rug runs the
length of the room and curves to fit Lincoln’s seated window nook.
Stretching over four floors, Brian Gluckstein’s fan-inspired design unfolds as
it creeps down the staircase. Paired with hand-painted walls and a custom
chandelier of just over 4,000 metal flowers, visitors are automatically transported
out of Manhattan.

"I wanted to create a runner that would help to draw people up through the winding narrow staircase to the fifth floor. I thought Dragonflies would be perfect all flying up the stairs, making the space feel magical and airy."
Complementing the jewel tones of Jennifer Cohler Mason’s space, Lola by David Rockwell ties her elegant sitting room together and adds an abstract note to her overall concept. In addition to her room on the fourth floor, she worked on the secret set of stairs leading to the fifth floor and enlisted our help to create a bespoke dragonfly-adorned stair runner.
