We’ve kicked off the holiday season in our New York Soho showroom with a show-stopping 12ft Noble Fir holiday tree. Decorated by one of our long-standing New York designers, Nicole Fuller, who enlisted the help of Brooke Lucas of The Wild Bunch, the tree is wrapped in dried and silk flowers, baubles and decked out with lights. We’ve asked Nicole to share her tree trimming tips and how she approaches the holiday season.
“When trimming your tree, have fun with it! Traditional decor is always nice although mixing it up and being a bit unconventional and creative is always as fun. I like to think of my tree as a blank canvas. What colours would I like to use this year? What shape would I like to see flowing throughout? What is the back drop? The lights are so important! Are they white? Coloured? Blue? Red?”
“I selected beautiful dried and silk flowers along with a few wonderful metallics that gave the design a whimsical, magical feel. I made the flowers into sections of chunky garland and draped it on the tree in a free flowing, abstract way. It all starts from the top with a large bouquet grounding the design as the topper, then the rest flows and I just had fun with. My mother and I have done many versions of "The Enchanted blooming flower tree" over the years. It's always quite beautiful, and very special.”
“Make the tree your own, it will all look beautiful in the end. It's quite liberating to create and only a four-week commitment until next year when it starts all over again. Happy Holidays!” –Nicole Fuller
