    "Because the majority of my work originates from being cut with scalpels from single sheets of paper, I never considered at all the possibility of trying a tapestry, but when I met with The Rug Company to discuss this project, I realized that the limitations of working in this medium were not going to be as rigid as I had supposed. The design was cut first in paper at the same size as the wall hanging, it was then photographed with the lighting adjusted to show just enough shadow to give the image a sense of depth.     Distinctive, original and touching, the designs of artist Rob Ryan have an enchanting presence.

    Specialising in intricate papercuts, he creates a world of romance and magic with simple but heartfelt messages. Now his recognized aesthetic has attracted collaborations with Tate, Paul Smith and witty jewellers, Tatty Devine. The charm of his intricate papercuts has now been translated into an enchanting hand-woven wool tapestry wallhanging, the skill of the weavers faithfully conveying the textural dimension of the original.


  • Craftsmanship

    This wall hanging is handmade. The design is hand-stitched in wool through an open weave canvas backing.

    Needlepoint is a traditional technique that has been used for centuries all over the world. Different stitches and guages of mash can be employed to produce interesting textures. Mounted on a wooden stretcher for hanging.

    Deliveries to US, Caribbean and South American addresses are made by UPS using the quickest route. Shipping charges are calculated by volumetric weight, and are shown at the time of order.

    For delivery to any of the following countries, please contact your local showroom directly to make an enquiry or place an order: Belgium, Denmark, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia (Moscow and Saint Petersburg), Spain (Barcelona and Madrid), Sweden, Taiwan and United Arab Emirates.


    We want you to be delighted with your purchase, so if you are not completely happy, you may return it to us within 21 days of receipt for a full refund (including shipping charge) or exchange - provided that the item is returned complete and in its original condition.     To return an item, you must first contact us (we can be contacted on +1 212 274 0444 from 9:30am - 6pm EST, Monday - Friday). We will then arrange for UPS to collect the item from you. Returns can be collected from your home, work or an alternative address.

    It is recommended that you keep the original packaging in order to make returning items easier. If you no longer have the original packaging we can suggest alternatives or send you new packaging free of charge.
