I call it Star but depending on how you look at it you could see diamonds or little boxes too. The randomly shaped plain space through the centre cuts negative shapes out of the simple but effective geometry." Helen Amy Murray is recognized for her hand-crafted creations that take inspiration from nature and form to create surface relief within textiles. 

She had previously applied the techniques to leather and suede but The Rug Company enabled her to branch out into the medium of hand knotted rugs. The results are stunning and truly ground breaking. Her collection of decorative rugs succesfully translated her abstract designs into innovative, hand carved rugs. ‘Peony’ was awarded the Homes & Gardens award 2008 and the BIDA Award at Decorex Fair in the same year.

This rug is entirely handmade, from the spinning of the yarns to the weaving on the loom. It is unique, and has been crafted by weavers in the Kathmandu area, whose skills have been passed down through many generations. We use only the finest natural yarns; the Tibetan wool is renowned for its softness and durability, while the fine silk brings a delicate lustre that enhances the design of the rug. To this we have added the vision of a world class designer, and the result is a hand knotted contemporary rug of extraordinary beauty which will itself become an heirloom to be treasured for years to come.

Deliveries to US, Caribbean and South American addresses are made by UPS using the quickest route. Shipping charges are calculated by volumetric weight, and are shown at the time of order.

Returns policy

The Rug Company operates a 30 day no-quibble returns policy for online sales. If you are not entirely delighted with the products that you have chosen you may return them to us within 30 days of receipt. We only ask that you contact us to arrange shipping and ensure the goods are returned as new in the original packaging for a full refund or exchange. Items can be returned outside this 30 day period if they are found to be faulty but please take extra care to read our Care and Cleaning page or any specific care instructions provided with your purchase. We cannot accept an item returned as faulty if the appropriate product care instructions have not been followed and the damage caused to the product is clearly due to wear and tear or misuse. We may require evidence - e.g. photographs of the rug to validate that a product is faulty.

If you wish to return an item for any reason, you must contact us first on +1 212 274 0444 to obtain a returns authorisation. Once authorised, we will then arrange for a carrier to collect the item(s) from you. If your return is not covered by the terms above, then we may require payment to cover the cost of shipping.
