  • About This Design
"Samavar encompasses all the elements I love in an oriental rug, yet it's unexpected scale and exuberant pattern gives a fresh take on the traditional. Originally inspired by 18th century Uzbekistan Ikat fabric, I re-scaled and re-colored this design to become a modern classic. I believe this transitions to be a rug that you could cover the concrete floor of a New York loft with or lay over the parquet wood of a French chateau. Its timeless , limitless and beautiful." Martyn Lawrence-Bullard Samavar is hand woven with a textural flat loop technique.

  • Craftsmanship

This rug is entirely handmade, using a special weaving technique. The background is knotted by looping directly around the warp and weft, giving a flat but highly tactile finish. The silk motif is knotted in a soft short pile, which gives the pattern unique definition. We use only the finest natural yarns; the Tibetan wool for its softness and durability, the fine silk for its delicate lustre that enhances the design of the rug. The result is a unique hand knotted contemporary rug of extraordinary beauty, which will itself become an heirloom to be treasured for years to come.
