  • About This Design
"The original inspiration for this rug came from a photograph of some old and crumbling columns in India. The zig zag design is one of the most ancient forms of decoration, and has a timeless fascination for its trompe lêoeil effect, which has translated wonderfully into a modern flat weave rug. The name Moghul evokes ancient India, where the original idea came from, but the icy blue peaks also remind me of skiing ´mogulsê!" Katrin Cargill Moghul is an Aubusson tapestry hand woven from wool. It is available to order only in any size.
  • Designer Story

Katrin Cargill is a Creative Producer for the interiors market. Her style is of layered simplicity, and an exceptional eye for colour and pattern.

For more than 18 years, she has created visual images for advertising and editorial style features for leading interior magazines. She has written and produced over 15 books in the interiors field, especially in soft furnishings. Several of her books have been international bestsellers, and most continue into reprints and new editions.

Fully trained as an interior designer, Katrin Cargill has run her own interior design business, been a partner in a design firm in Houston, Texas for 4 years, and now carries out private consultation both in the US and UK.

Cargill’s rug designs reinvigorate the traditional aubusson weave with her fresh, contemporary patterns, and lend themselves to many decorating schemes, traditional or modern.  This very fine tapestry flatweave technique has been celebrated for centuries for its astonishing intricacy, and is brought to life with Cargill’s trademark use of rich reds, graphic stripes and pretty florals.

  • Craftsmanship

This rug is entirely handmade. Aubusson tapestry is a very fine flat-weave quality originating in France which has been celebrated for centuries. Our designers have married this traditional and meticulous craftsmanship with their unique sense of pattern and colour. The finished rug is very fine yet strong, and works perfectly as a floor rug with the non-slip underlay supplied.
