Initially trained on Savile Row, Alexander McQueen was quickly distinguished as a ground-breaking, unconventional and lavish fashion designer.

Renowned for his theatrical fashion shows, macabre motifs, ‘bumster’ trousers and sculpted silhouettes, he added fantasy and rebellion to all his creations. McQueen (or ‘Lee’ to those close to him) graduated from Central St Martins in 1995. The following year he was appointed head designer at Givenchy, before establishing his eponymous label in 2001. With numerous celebrity patrons and adoring fans, his name and ‘genius’ is recognized worldwide.

Three years in the making, Alexander McQueen’s rug collection took craftsmanship to couture levels, encapsulating The Rug Company and McQueen’s combined commitment to arresting design, superior quality and skilled craftsmanship. The collection won the award for ‘Fashion’s Contribution to Design’ at the 2010 Elle Decoration British Design Awards.

McQueen tragically died on 11 February 2010. The custodian for the Alexander McQueen brand is now his right-hand woman, Sarah Burton, who has earned her own international success for her beautiful creations, honouring Lee’s vision whilst still accomplishing her own aesthetic.

Returns policy

The Rug Company operates a 30 day no-quibble returns policy for online sales. If you are not entirely delighted with the products that you have chosen you may return them to us within 30 days of receipt. We only ask that you contact us to arrange shipping and ensure the goods are returned as new in the original packaging for a full refund or exchange. Items can be returned outside this 30 day period if they are found to be faulty but please take extra care to read our Care and Cleaning page or any specific care instructions provided with your purchase. We cannot accept an item returned as faulty if the appropriate product care instructions have not been followed and the damage caused to the product is clearly due to wear and tear or misuse. We may require evidence - e.g. photographs of the rug to validate that a product is faulty.

If you wish to return an item for any reason, you must contact us first on +1 212 274 0444 to obtain a returns authorisation. Once authorised, we will then arrange for a carrier to collect the item(s) from you. If your return is not covered by the terms above, then we may require payment to cover the cost of shipping.
