About this Design
Designer story
British designer Tara Bernerd is Chairman and Head of Design of established Interior Architecture practice, Target Living.
Tara won the Andrew Martin Design of the Year Award in 2005, and her key clients include the Olayan Foundation, Grosvenor Asia, Blackstone, and The Crown Estate, amongst a list of luxury brands including Aspinalls.
Tara began her collaboration with The Rug Company in 2008 with the launch of her Miss Shady hand woven tapestry cushion collection. The five cushions are a playful expression of Tara Bernerd’s individual style, each stamped with her trademark aviator print. Later, Tara added to her collection with 3 exquisite wool and silk rugs, Papillon, Honeycomb and Target, as well as a glamorous collection of velvet Tattoo cushions.
‘Colour, texture and detail are my passions and working with The Rug Company has been the ultimate in expressing this by creating a range of interior finishes, as there is no doubt rugs and cushions impact interiors dramatically. I have reflected my more serene side with Honeycomb, using subtle creams and mossy greys, in a simple graphic. Tattoo brings a little attitude and shares an edgier look, using velvets, leather and studs. The collection has been an energetic and fulfilling project, each piece tells a different story.” Tara Bernerd.
Craftsmanship
This rug is entirely handmade, from the spinning of the wool to the weaving on the loom. It is unique, and has been crafted by weavers in the Kathmandu area, whose skills have been passed down through many generations. We use only the highest quality wool for our rugs, that of the Tibetan sheep, for its durability, rich texture and subtle colour variation. To this we have added the vision of a world class designer, and the result is a hand knotted contemporary rug of extraordinary beauty, which will itself become an heirloom to be treasured for years to come.

We cannot accept an item returned as faulty if the appropriate product care instructions have not been followed and the damage caused to the product is clearly due to wear and tear or misuse. We may require evidence - e.g. photographs of the rug to validate that a product is faulty.
