Matthew Williamson first collaborated with The Rug Company in 2004, creating an exuberant collection inspired by his worldly travels.
The inspirational young, British designer pulled together all aspects of his creative knowledge from Indian sunsets to spiritual leaders to offer a fresh and dynamic range of unique rugs and a wallhanging. The bold, almost luminous colours in every piece are apparent from Williamson’s countless trips to India. Most recently, Matthew Williamson designed two delicately patterned rugs, Peacock Dark and Peacock Light, motifs which have almost become representative of Matthew Williamson. The rugs feature over scaled peacock feathers with vibrant flashes of lime and fuchsia mixed with rich tones of deep blues and charcoal.
This wall hanging is handmade. The design is hand-stitched in wool through an open weave canvas backing.
Needlepoint is a traditional technique that has been used for centuries all over the world. Different stitches and guages of mash can be employed to produce interesting textures. Mounted on a wooden stretcher for hanging.
