About this Design
Designer story
Sam Turner is a director of The Rug Company, and has worked on countless bespoke design projects since he joined the company in its early stages in 1998.
His mother is a renowned conservator, and Sam’s childhood was spent surrounded by rare textiles. This upbringing and a keen interest in art and design led Sam to work with antique rugs in London and Los Angeles before he found his true calling when he met Christopher and Suzanne Sharp.
The Rug Company has pushed the boundaries of what is thought possible with hand knotted rugs, and Sam’s unparalleled knowledge and depth of experience has been central to this.
Sam’s designs in the catalogue are deceptively simple and originate from his belief that a handmade rug should be the very foundation piece of a room; an object of great quality, integrity and permanence that sets the tone for all else around it.
Craftsmanship
This rug is entirely handmade, from the spinning of the wool to the weaving on the loom. It is unique, and has been crafted by weavers in the Kathmandu area, whose skills have been passed down through many generations. We use only the highest quality wool for our rugs, that of the Tibetan sheep, for its durability, rich texture and subtle colour variation. To this we have added the vision of a world class designer, and the result is a hand knotted contemporary rug of extraordinary beauty, which will itself become an heirloom to be treasured for years to come.

Returns policy
The Rug Company operates a 30 day no-quibble returns policy. If you are not entirely delighted with the products that you have chosen you may return them to us within 30 days of receipt. We only ask that you contact us to arrange shipping and ensure the goods are returned as new in the original packaging for a full refund or exchange. The Rug Company will cover the cost of shipping within the UK, but charges may be incurred for shipping outside of the UK. Items can be returned outside this 30 day period if they are found to be faulty but please take extra care to read our Care and Cleaning page or any specific care instructions provided with your purchase. We cannot accept an item returned as faulty if the appropriate product care instructions have not been followed and the damage caused to the product is clearly due to wear and tear or misuse. We may require evidence - e.g. photographs of the rug to validate that a product is faulty.
If you wish to return an item for any reason, you must contact us first on +44 (0)20 7243 7342 to obtain a returns authorisation. Once authorised, we will then arrange for a carrier to collect the item(s) from you. If your return is not covered by the terms above, then we may require payment to cover the cost of shipping.
