Alexandra Champalimaud is the Founder, President and Principal Designer at Champalimaud, a full service interior design and interior planning firm specializing in bespoke, high-end hospitality and residential design.
Born and raised in Portugal, Alexandra received her early education in Switzerland and England, and later completed her design training at the Espirito Santo Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal- one of the worlds’ last remaining colleges teaching the tradition of European arts, crafts and techniques of historic preservation and restoration.
Nearly 30 years ago, Alexandra Champalimaud & Associates was founded and quickly developed a strong following among Montreal tastemakers. As the company expanded, Alexandra relocated to New York City in 1994 to serve a thriving international client base, and changed its name to Champalimaud in 2008. Since its inception, the firm has been privileged to partner with many landmark hotels and residences globally.
Alexandra brings a dynamic intellectual curiosity and an absence of pretense to her work. Drawing upon a wealth of personal experiences and professional commissions throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, her work is known for subtle references unique to her multi-faceted vantage point. With a unique talent for the application of color, pattern, texture and a seasoned understanding of the foundations and principals of classic design, Alexandra remains an uncompromising aesthetic respectful of the needs of her clients and the time place and cultural context of each project.
Champalimaud’s trained eye and sophisticated aesthetic is reflected in her geometric and linear rug designs for The Rug Company.
This rug is entirely handmade. The pile is hand-knotted from wool, and then carefully distressed to give the appearance of an antique rug, but with a contemporary design
Standard deliveries to mainland UK addresses are free of charge and normally made within 2 working days – Monday to Friday. Deliveries to all international addresses (except the USA, South America and the Caribbean) will take longer, but we endeavour to send all orders by the quickest route. For orders delivered outside the UK, we will confirm the anticipated delivery date to you.
Delivery charges for outside the UK are calculated by volumetric weight, and are shown at the time of order.
If you are not entirely delighted with the products that you have chosen you may return them to us within 14 days of receipt. We only ask that you contact us to arrange shipping and ensure the goods are returned as new in the original packaging for a full refund or exchange. The Rug Company will cover the cost of shipping within the UK, but charges may be incurred for shipping outside of the UK. Items can be returned outside this 14 day period if they are found to be faulty but please take extra care to read our care and cleaning page or any specific care instructions provided with your purchase. We cannot accept an item returned as faulty if the appropriate product care instructions have not been followed and the damage caused to the product is clearly due to wear and tear or misuse. We may require evidence - e.g. photographs of the rug to validate that a product is faulty.
If you wish to return an item for any reason, you must contact us first on +44 (0)20 7243 7342 to obtain a returns authorisation. Once authorised, we will then arrange for a carrier to collect the item(s) from you. If your return is not covered by the terms above, then we may require payment to cover the cost of shipping.
