About this Design
"A nostalgic nod to analogue technology and 1950s modernism with its clean lines and simple geometries. The abacus originally involved the use of pebbles that were moved by hand and I loved this idea of an irregular shaped fragment of the natural world forming the foundation of modern calculus and computing." Designer story
Through abstract collages, English artist Fiona Curran explores how colour, composition and space affect us.
Accustomed to working with paint and cut paper, for the first time Curran makes use of the exceptional quality of handmade rugs and tapestry with her collection for The Rug Company. Her designs invite us to experience bright and plentiful colour through something soft and tactile, rather than from looking at a computer screen.
